DocuSign is worth it if your work regularly involves collecting signatures or managing contracts — vendor onboarding, client agreements, employee onboarding — and today that process means emailing PDFs back and forth and waiting for someone to print, sign and scan them. Beyond e-signature (its original product), it added an AI layer called Intelligent Agreement Management that reads uploaded contracts, extracts key terms, flags clauses that fall outside the norm, and tracks dates and obligations without anyone having to reread every document by hand.

It’s important to separate the two: basic e-signature is the original product, and the contract-analysis AI is a newer, more expensive layer, not something included by default.

In practice

This shows up in things like: setting up an approval flow where a contract automatically moves from HR to Legal and only then to the final signer, without coordinating it by email; asking the AI to extract the expiration date and amount from every uploaded contract to build a tracker without opening each PDF; or having it automatically flag an exclusivity or auto-renewal clause that falls outside the company’s usual template.

Plans and pricing (2026)

• Personal (USD 11/user/month) — basic e-signature, no AI features, built for individual use.
• Standard (USD 30/user/month) — templates and signing workflows for small teams.
• Business Pro (USD 45/user/month) — more advanced e-signature workflows, still without the AI layer.
• Intelligent Agreement Management (from USD 40/user/month, 3-user minimum) — the AI layer: term extraction, risk detection and obligation tracking, with Starter, Standard and Professional tiers depending on analysis depth.

For this review we went through the plan structure and confirmed that AI features aren’t included in the standard e-signature plans, but sit in the separate IAM line.

What to know before choosing

The most common mistake is signing up for DocuSign assuming the contract-analysis AI is included: it isn’t, you need the separate IAM plan, which starts considerably more expensive than basic e-signature and requires a minimum of three users. If you just need to collect signatures without analyzing contracts, the standard plans are enough and much cheaper.

Worth it for mid-sized teams and up that manage several contracts a month and want to stop reviewing them one by one by hand. For signing occasional standalone documents, the Personal plan is more than enough without needing the AI layer.
