Copy.ai

AI workflows to automate copy generation across the whole marketing and sales funnel, not just standalone pieces of text.

Copy.ai is worth it if you’re part of a sales, marketing or growth team at a mid-size or larger company that wants to automate entire content and prospecting workflows, not if you’re looking for something simple to write a standalone piece of copy every now and then. It started out as an affordable ad copy generator, but it has repositioned itself as an agent-based content and sales automation platform, built for organizations that already think in repeatable processes.

The key difference from simpler tools is the “workflow” concept: instead of asking for one piece of text at a time, you build a complete process — for example, research a prospect, generate a personalized email, adapt it to different channels and log the result in the CRM — and the AI runs it end to end, with several agents working in a chain. That automation logic is what explains why its plans now sit in an enterprise price range instead of a cheap individual subscription.

In practice

This shows up in processes like: a sales team building a workflow that researches every inbound lead and drafts a personalized first-contact message before a human rep ever touches it, a marketing team that automatically adapts the same ad into several channel-and-audience combinations, or a workflow that summarizes sales calls and suggests the next step without anyone having to write it up by hand. In all three cases, what’s being automated isn’t a standalone piece of text but a chain of steps, which is also why setting up the first workflow takes real time — you’re designing a small pipeline, not writing a prompt.

Plans and pricing (2026)

  • Chat (USD 29/mo, or USD 24/mo billed annually) — chat with access to OpenAI, Anthropic and Gemini models, templates and up to 5 seats; doesn’t include agent workflows.
  • Growth (USD 1,000/mo) — the first tier built for real automation: 75 seats and 20,000 workflow credits per month.
  • Expansion (USD 2,000/mo) — 150 seats and 45,000 workflow credits per month.
  • Scale (USD 3,000/mo) — 200 seats and 75,000 workflow credits per month.
  • Enterprise (custom pricing) — guided implementation, API access, 20+ integrations and a dedicated account team.

Copy.ai no longer offers a free plan: the cheapest entry point is the Chat plan, which functions more as a conversational add-on than the core product — the tool’s real value, and the real price jump, lives in the workflow plans (Growth and up).

For this review we tested the Chat plan directly and reviewed the public documentation and configuration logic of the workflow plans in detail, focusing on how a multi-step process with chained agents gets built and run.

What to know before choosing

The most real limitation today is price: Copy.ai stopped being an accessible tool for individual use and became a product built for team budgets, with the entry point to real automation starting in the low thousands of dollars per month. Copy.ai has changed its pricing structure several times over the past couple of years, so if you’re comparing against older information, it’s likely out of date.

Worth it for sales or marketing teams with a B2B tooling budget who already think in repeatable processes and want to automate them end to end. If you’re a solo user or a small team that only needs to write occasional copy, simpler, cheaper tools will get you more for the same money — the Chat plan alone doesn’t really justify choosing Copy.ai over a general-purpose assistant.

Pros

  • Thinks in complete 'workflows,' not just generating one text at a time
  • Useful for sales teams that need to personalize messages at scale
  • Can connect with other tools as part of a growth process

Cons

  • Workflow plans start in the low thousands of dollars per month, built for companies, not individuals
  • Real value only shows up once you build workflows, not with one-off use
